Women know your power!
thinkingwomen are having a January 2010 gathering to discuss the dynamics of power for women in today's society. How and when do we feel powerful and when do we feel powerless. Come along to what promises to be a lively and entertaining discussion. Children and paid work has taken over, making thinkingwomen meetings pretty rare at the moment, but we are still online with a mailing list of almost 1000 women, so get in touch if you have something interesting to share.

November 2007
thinkingwomen have announced a new season of gatherings in Manchester. Sessions cover popular topics such as love, sex and shopping!

We moved over to a decentralised, distributed model of event organisation to reduce workloads but still have the opportunity to see each other. If anyone emails me with an *interesting and relevant* event, I forward it on to the list. I am completely and unapologetically subjective to keep the emails to a minimum. In this information rich world, I think it is nice to have a quality gatekeeper! So if you are organising an event that you think thinkingwomen would like to attend, let me know.

Who comes to thinkingwomen?

Any woman who thinks about her situation in life and wants to share her opinions and listen to other women who do the same!

Past speakers in the network include Cheryl Kernot, Margaret Hodge, Gillian Shephard and Virginia Bottomley from politics, Judith Williamson and Susie Orbach on feminism, Barbara Stocking, Director of Oxfam GB, Beverley Hodson, MD of WH Smiths Retail and Denise Kingsmill, Chair of the Competition Commission. Coming up this year are Harriet Harman, MP and Louise Berridge, Executive Producer of Eastenders. Membership is growing daily, with a mailing list that currently stands at over 750. Members are London and Manchester-based and draw from the worlds of politics and policy-making, media, academia, local government, voluntary sector and business, with younger women particularly well represented.
