Thinkers
thinkingwomen was set up by a few women from Demos in November 2002 as a new discussion and networking
group for women - a space for us to meet each other, share ideas and encouragement,
and discuss the issues that concern us (often, but not always with a gender
theme). We met about once a month where a guest speaker led a group discussion.
Previous meetings covered the topics of women in parliament, issues around
management in the public and voluntary sectors, and work-life balance. Our
activities are ever changing and we are open to suggestions
on topics to cover and people to invite.

The Network:
Our network includes women from politics, media, business, law, local
government, education, policy makers, charities. We are at different stages
in our careers, from eighteen to sixty years old, with diverse backgrounds
and experiences. We have almost 750 names on our email list and the sessions
usually number about 10 women. The conversation is always lively and friendly.
Some people have come to most gatherings, others come when the person
or topic interests them. They come on their own or with friends and stay
for a drink afterwards to carry on discussing the issues raised during
the talk.
